Time: 6 hours with rest

Qualification: easy hike

The most easily accessible route to the Piatra Secuiului peak. This hike is a great choice for families with children, it does not lead to steep, dangerous places.

Covid here or there, the world doesn’t stop, time doesn’t slow down, and we don’t get younger either. The virus had already ruined my birthday last year, I didn’t let that happen again. I managed to gather most of my friends, whom I invited for an outdoor trip to the Piatra Secuiului peak.

On Saturday morning, everyone arrived in Moldovenești, which was our gathering point. From here we drove to the neighboring village Pietroasa where we left the cars at the Upper Orthodox Church and set off on foot.

Next to the church, a chariot path leads up. The road is unmarked, but will soon cross the hiking trail marked with a red lane.

USEFUL INFO: if you just keep it straight up from the church, you are sure to cross the hiking trail.

Once you fonund the mark, it’s easy to continue the hike. The trail is wide and will soon lead into the woods. Leaving the forest, we reached a beautiful clearing. The pathway was rising continuously and slowly all the way to the top. This is a very beautiful walk in nature. Soon we saw our destination, which from this direction looks like a flat hill.

Stepping into the saddle, the fabulous view was already revealed to us, although not completely. So we went to the peak of Colții Trascăului, which is 1113 meters high and from where we could see the whole eastern part of the landscape. To do this, we continued following the red lane sign, but only to the next saddle, where the marked path begins to slope steeply. Here we deviated from the signposted road and climbed up to the cliff, which bears the name Colții Trascăului. The view was really great, we got nice, clean, sunny weather.

USEFUL INFO: The red bar sign leads down to Rimetea. It is a great choice for a round trip from Rimetea, in the scorching sun, as it leads in the woods for a long time, but it is steep. Very slippery in rainy weather.

MivelSince the lunch break was planned for the top of Piatra Secuiului, hungry we returned to the first saddle and, following the blue cross sign, climbed a last 100 meters to the top, then everyone peered down and enjoyed their lunch.

Attention! Two roads marked with blue crosses also branch out from the saddle, the right one leads to the Piatra Secuiului peak!

A Secuiului is 1129 meters high. The peak of Piatra From here we get a perfect view of the village, Rimetea, below us and the whole valley.

At the end of the rest, we set off slowly backwards, on the same route we had climbed,, only this time going downhill.

Full of experience, recharged, we got into our cars and said goodbye to this great day.
